SIAP 2021

It is a great satisfaction to invite everyone to participate in the I International Symposium on Psychological Assessment (I SIAP) promoted by the Universidade Estadual do Piauí (UESPI). The I SIAP will be completley remote and online, 11-14 August 2021.

On March 11th, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the world was experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, this context extends until nowadays, leading to numerous infections and deaths worldwide. However, these are not the only problems caused by the disease, as this whole social and historical context is favoring an exponential increase in cases of mental disorders such as anxiety, depression and others. For this reason, in the current health situation, psychological assessment is even more important to understand, identify and prevent problems or crises that may come to exist due to moments of social isolation and a high amount of information and concerns submitted in this historical and social period.

Due to these critical conditions of change in the professional practice of the psychologist, in the international context, the American Psychological Association (APA) published pioneering guidelines on the practices of psychological assessment in the remote context, Guidance on psychological tele-assessment during the COVID-19 crisis, published in May 2020, while in August 2020, the Federal Council of Psychology (CFP), in Brazil, published in August 2020 the “Cartilha para Boas Práticas de Avaliação Psicológica em Contextos de Pandemia”. These initiatives guide the attention so that the professional psychologists adopt with the operationalization of the evaluation resources, the data analysis and the ethical aspects in the psychological evaluation.

Thinking about this whole scenario and bearing in mind the importance of understanding and discussing the teaching and practices of Psychological Assessment, the I SIAP will address the theme “Psychological Assessment in Contexts of Pandemic”. Therefore, it will be approached through lectures, round tables and short courses, with the participation of renowned professionals and researchers, national and international, of Psychological Assessment in many specialties.

We look forward to welcoming you all to contribute to the main objective of the event: the exchange of experiences and mutual learning. Firstly, we invite all of you to follow the official page of the event and also to enjoy, comment and share the information of the Symposium available on our social networks.
